ART/ELIER ltd.’s Editions
Food+Lab is definitely one of our favorite casual dining spots in Los Angeles, the Santa Monica Blvd location being particularly special. We usually find ourselves in there once a week to grab a coffee and sandwich and hang out in their new, fancy dining room. Last time we were there, we noticed some new art that were very familiar, all grouped by a little sign that had the title, “ARTELIERLTD.COM.” We noted the address and checked it out at home: ART/ELIER ltd. is a local art market from Pete White and Nino Mier, who owns Food+Lab with his mother.
The site is a being branded as an “online marketplace and research hub for contemporary art–created by collectors–for art lovers and new collectors alike.” To do this, they’ve created an online platform to share new art and artists by way of their blog and their “Editions,” which is their calling card. What they’ve done is worked with some pretty great emerging local and not local artists to create limited edition fine art prints that come out every two weeks, which they sell unframed and framed for prices like $300 and $425, respectively. Basically, it’s a nicer version of 20×200 for the amateur and professional art enthusiasts. They’ve also gotten some pretty legit people involved like Justin Beal, Lisa Williamson, Juliana Paciulli, Jay Stuckey, and Mark Hagen, who we actually spoke about over the weekend. Some examples of these editions you can see here.
ART/ELIER ltd. definitely is something that could become a “thing” not only here but in the art world. It’s great that such pursuits are coming out of LA, of all places, which is why we’re glad we could share. It’s definitely a fresh take on sharing and encouraging art in the world.
