The academic year is nearly over! This is great news for students everywhere but also us out-of-schoolers who want to see what the next generation are up to. We’ve seen what the folks at Art Center were up to and heard that CalArts recently opened their studios to visitors for the end of the year–but what about OTIS? They of course have tons going on, one of which is the Junior Graphic Design Show, where new works will be shared by this young batch of a few designers.
We got the note from one of the students, Amy Woo, who directed us to their Facebook page. We checked it out and happened upon their show page which had a taste of each of the students’ works. The show, entitled Never Odd Or Even, will see the works shared not at OTIS but at Design Matters, which is kind of cool that they were able to break out of their campus and get into DM’s rad little space.
We’ve shared a few of the designers in the class’ work, including Gianna Sacco, Gabe Zimmer, Derek Gonzalez, Jamal Polk, and Tiffany Yang. We don’t think we’ll be able to make it but it is from 6PM to 9PM tonight. Check out the website for more information and looks at more fantastic, young designers, too.
(It also should be noted that efforts like this–namely in form of the website of the entire class–are so super valuable now as resources for people to discover new artistic voices from schools. These kids have done it as did the Art Center Product Design Graduates, which made it so much easier to track them down and keep in touch with them. Graduates and graduating classes who are sharing work: take note.)
