A Look At ICON Bronco

A Look At ICON Bronco

If you remember a few months back on The Fox Is Black, Bobby shared the work of local car company ICON, a company started by Jonathan Ward that refurbishes and completely rehabs old, beautiful Ford Broncos and other classic cars of the past. The Van Nuys located company were recently visited by Cool Hunting and are the subject of their latest video, which is a nice tour of their space and explains their take on design and creating.

The video follows their process, showing what goes into creating these cars all through Ward, who discusses everything piece by piece, noting everything in a very succinct way. “To me, good design is considered. You should be able to point out anything on one of my trucks and I should be able to give you a longer than you want geek out answer,” he explains, as sexy shots of his trucks feature people working on them and them roaming free through the desert. We get to see the cars in various stages of production–recent arrivals to nearly finished pieces–in addition to Ward explaining exactly what goes into them, he at one point noting that the chassis is made from long boards of metal versus pieces that are slung together, which make for a less strong base.

The video is a quick little blip on the company and, even though we couldn’t afford the car or the gas for it, the four minute video is a little like fantastic, well designed, Los Angeles, desert car porn. Who doesn’t want to watch that as they wrap up their Thursday? Certainly not us.
