Getting to check out the Aetherstream is always a treat. It’s just such a cool concept, essentially the retail equivalent of the food truck. There really is nothing else like it and it’s so sleek and sexy and cool, just like their products: what isn’t cool about grabbing rad beachwear in a trailer? Nothing, really. Last time we saw the ‘stream was months ago at the launch, when it was outfitted for colder weather and ready to hit the road to share mountain and ski wear. Now, with Summer just about here, they’re ready to hit the beach. And, what better way to do that than to set up shop for a few days at Space15Twenty’s amazing Field Study pop up shop?
The Aetherstream is positioned in the back of the back of Space15Twenty, in that super expensive parking lot that no one should ever park in because it’s way over priced. It just out from the back of the Urban Outfitters entrance, almost like a silver bullet growth from the store. We stopped in as they were finishing setting up shop, the two co-founders even there to help get things in order. The stream has changed a little bit, some more warm weather items added in to lighten up the space, not to mention tons of new apparel like some shorter swim shorts, poppy colored shorts, the sexy, light Ultralight jacket, a sweet huge tote, and more. More than a place to check out their products and shop, it’s also a communal space as they set up chairs and tables for you to chill out. They even have an Aether decked out mailbox that serves as their sandwich board of sorts, directing passersby to where they are.
The ‘stream is going to be at Space15Twenty for two days to support Field Study, the lastest pop up shop at the retail destination. Now, guys: you have to check out the store. It’s amazing: as Farm Tactics‘ Kyle Ng told us, it’s intended to be a “psychedelic R.E.I.,” which it certainly accomplishes being. Aether along with Farm Tactics, Native Shoes, Outlier, and more are being shared in the space, which has some amazing installations from a few tee pees to a giant geodesic tent to a cavernous wall. It’s very woody and earthy while simultaneously being super colorful and like it’s on an acid trip. It’s, basically, like a more masculine, younger New High (M)art, which says a lot because that store has got to be in our top three spots in the city. Sometimes the S15T pop up shops miss the mark but, guys, this one is top notch. You have to stop in and see it.
The Aetherstream is going to be chilling out today and tomorrow when it will return to Aether’s headquarters. They’ll also be having a “shelter building workshop and sleep-over” tonight starting at 7PM, where you’ll learn how to build a tripod sleeping spot, which is perfect for all of you super outdoorsy people. Field Study will be open and at Space15Twenty through June 12 and you HAVE to check it out. There is no other option: you HAVE to check it out.
