Good things come in threes, right? Well, apparently they do when you are forming a little illustration clique in school. Illustration X3 is a little illustration posse of three ladies who are currently attending Art Center. The clique consists of Jenn Rahardjanoto, Loris Lora, and Ellen Surrey and they have a really cutesy, great aesthetic nailed that we had to share.
The three work in very different–yet the same–styles and are constantly tasking themselves words to illustrate and draw in addition to any work they are creating for school. They each compliment each other quite well and are like variations of the same instrument: Jenn’s work is very whimsical and character driven, all manifesting themselves with a hint of sugar and spice; Loris’ work is the most consistently complicated and straddles between realistic representation and abstraction; and Ellen’s work is the most delicate, the sketches on her Tumblr really personifying this way of visual articulation.
It’s funny to see their work independently and then all corralled together. Individually, they are great and are chasing after certain references, styles, and interests. When placed together, the touchstones and commonalities within them all really shine from their obsession with lighter colors to their very feminine point of view. Maybe it’s just something in the water at Art Center? In any event, definitely watch these young ladies and browse through their sites to get more from them.
