Laura Carignan is a local graphic designer who does some letterpress printing on the side. We’ve seen her work a few times but finally got around to looking at it on her Etsy page. She sells various cute, funny, nice looking cards but also a selection of nice, minimal prints inspired by forms she sees in her every day.
Her works play within nice little ovals of bright colors in which she uses as a backdrop for shapes. She’s done vases, fruit, fish, circles, ovals, and lots of other little items that seem to be pulled from her home and tied into her work. Her work is very light and pulls from mid-century design, specifically with a mod slant to them. All of her pieces look like prints your grandmother may have had in her house somewhere that would inspire you to steal them from her because they were so nice.
The pieces are 11″ x 14″ and run in editions of thirty or so. They’re very cheap, running at either $20 or $25 apiece. You should totally get these as gifts and share them with a little card she made, too.
