Langly Camera Bags
Working on LAIY, we’ve gotten to meet and work with a lot of photographers. They all always have a lot of kits and bags and boxes to carry around and they’re all super clunky and–undoubtedly–quite heavy. Are there any “cool” bags for photographers? Well, there may be one now: local photographer Evan Lane has launched a Kickstarter project to make very fashionable, functional bags for the photographer on the go.
The project is entitled Langly Camera Bags and is a line of two bags for photographers who need to carry all their gear but don’t want to look like they’re carrying all their gear. “As a working freelance photographer, I am always in need of something to protect my camera gear,” Evan says. “It has been my on-going mission to find the perfect camera bag: one that isn’t only functional but also fashionable. Most bags are usually one but not the other.” So, he decided to make his own!
There are two bags that he’s hoping to create: the Alpha and the Delta. Both are made from 20 oz. waterproof canvas with tanned leather and brass hardware. The two are essentially the same–both have clothing, camera, and laptop compartments in addition to accessory pockets–but the Alpha has a double fastened top while the Delta has a little folded over top.
The bags look pretty great and we’re very intrigued to see what price point they’d be going for. They seem very sturdy and very, very useful. Be that as it may, we’re sure there will be some photographers who need more space and that these bags may not work for, which means Evan just has to make more items. The project is inching close to halfway toward it’s goal but currently is at $11.5 thousand of its $30K goal. With thirty two days to go, we’re crossing our fingers they can make it happen.
