Atilio Pernisco is a local painter who creates these giant, impressionistic paintings of life scenes, typically surrounding that of children activity associated with youth. His work blurs color and movement together, resulting in these little moments of life so full of activity.
Atilio’s work are oil on canvas and very often have widths that stretch into eighty inches or so. The paintings are created by a loosely precise stroke that makes it everything seem unintentional, the impressionistic blur allowing for great detail and no detail simultaneously. Atilio also works within a very nice color palette, one that is very colorful yet subdued.
I don’t know what it is about these paintings but I find them to be so beautiful, almost meditative. They’re literal, they’re abstract, they’re classic, they’re contemporary: they’re great. The mundane, everyday is transformed into these vignettes composed of color and movement. You can check out more of Atilio’s work here.
