Summer Pattern Madness From Monitaly
This past weekend, we found ourselves wandering around Silver Lake which meant we had to stop into Intelligentsia, Barkeeper, Reform School, Undefeated, and Mohawk General. They’re all pleasant, a bit pricey, but pleasant places. We ended up walking in and out of the stores empty handed but one thing stood out in my mind all week:
Monitaly is a Hermosa Beach brand that we hadn’t heard of until this moment and their roster of clothes range from boating man to hiking man to very cold weather man outfits, which is funny since they are coming out of such a warm place. As you sift through their website, everything is modeled by this outdoorsman type who is very much the opposite of these clothes. That being said, this collection is their best, by far. They’re all drawn from what I assume is Kitenge textiles and are bright, elaborate, and somewhat gaudy. I absolutely love them. They’re so insane and are demanding to be in my closet.
As you can see, they not only come in shorts but also in nice Summer button-ups and a suit (well, blazer and pants from the leftest pattern). There was a patterned bowtie but, alas, Mohawk has already sold out of them. The good news on these wears is that they are all on sale, which is great for all of you who have $150 to spend on shorts. They still haven’t dropped low enough for me to be able to afford them but, in the mean time, I wanted to share them with you all as a coping mechanism for a raging case of coveting.
