Food is such a necessary part of our lives and culture. In Los Angeles, food has quickly gone from this blasé thing to a respected, innovative playground for chefs and restauranteurs to experiment. We, like a other Los Angeles food aware websites, are absolutely crazy about eating in our city. We try to scour new restaurants as much as possible and track any food trends and happenings to share. One coming up that we are absolutely going crazy over? The 3rd Annual LA Street Food Fest. Because we know you guys are dying to go, we have a little opportunity for you to win a pair of tickets to attend this Saturday’s food celebration at the Rose Bowl.

The fest is a food filled gathering where you can munch on the best things in town, all gathered on the Rose Bowl field. They festival has partnered with several top chefs in Los Angeles, enlisting everyone from John Sedlar at Playa to Christian Page at Short Order and food trucks like Kogi, The Grilled Cheese Truck, Border Grill, and more. They’ll have gourmet food trucks, local loncheros, street carts, stands for restaurants, ice cream, coffee, beer, dessert, tequila, wine, and more: as you can tell from their long roster, you will have enough LA food to eat for days.

While it was a tough call between the 24 hour Sprinkles Cupcake ATM in Beverly Hills, mourning and celebrating the loss of foie gras, and the recent rise in fried chicken, those Los Angeles food happenings lost out to Roy Choi announcing that he was no longer going to eat meat and–maybe–will leave cooking. Yes, this is something very, very distressing for Los Angeles foodies but it is also something so interesting and unexpected that we couldn’t help but obsess over it. We’ve watched closely, theorizing why he’s had a change of heart and dissecting recent appearances he has made. Roy Choi will never not be a Los Angeles food staple and, now, we know he will never not be a food iconoclast, taking our expectations of him and his food and breaking them over our heads. Even though he has caused us stress, we’re extremely loyal–and biting our nails to know what he’s going to do next.
