GANT is one of the sharpest American men’s brand. They’re a heritage brand born in New England, where they became known for creating sharp shirts that would go on to influence a specific style. This style, this WASPy, country club style, has been praised and emulated far and wide and even chronicled in modern fashion cultural touchstones like Shosuke Ishizu’s Take Ivy. The brand is sold in Los Angeles through third party brands like Nordstrom, Barneys, and Kitson and is melded together with our more casual approach to styling. Coming very soon–and perhaps proving our city’s fashion sense–Abbot Kinney is welcoming the first West coast Gant store, which is open now.
The store is a woody, masculine retail space located at 1308 Abbot Kinney on the same block as Rooster Fish. It’s 1700 square feet of GANT and adds to the area being a rich retail destination, especially for men as it joins Steven Alan, Jack Spade, Stronghold, and more. The space feels modern and spacious with vintage accessories and furniture to compliment the space (which they actually got from the Rose Bowl, according to David Arbuthnot, GANT’s CEO). The store is going to be selling all GANT’s goodies, specifically GANT Rugger and GANT by Michael Bastian collections. Now you won’t need to pick through Barneys’ racks or be disappointed when that one great GANT sweater is not available in your size because you can just hop on the road and visit the West coast GANT source in Venice.
We believe the store opening will once again prove that Los Angeles (and Abbot Kinney) are a retail destination. They could have chosen to go to San Francisco or Portland but they decided to set up shop here. For more on GANT, check out their website and start planning which items you are going to buy when the store opens next month.
