Chef Snapback
The Gorbals is one of the most exciting Los Angeles restaurants. The establishment is an emblem food and culture fusion, all wrapped up tightly with a sleek hip bow. To move beyond food making, they teamed up with Ampal Creative for a unique collaboration which they are calling “Chef Snapback.” The project is a few months old but, somehow, it’s gone fairly unnoticed locally.
The collaboration is a very simple hat with the Gorbals’ G logo emblazoned to the front. It’s your standard baseball cap fashioned for chefs, made with details like the side of the hat having a place for you to stash your meat thermometer and Sharpie, something that many, many people have an issue storing on their person. It also has an “industrial vinyl brim and button” in addition to a “special extra sweat resistance sweatband.”
Ampal, who are a local and awesome hat maker, made the item and a commercial for the project. The little film stars executive chef Ilan Hall cutting meat, cooking meat, and doing lots of other kitchen things all in his new, fancy hat. He even ends up serving the food to his little, very cute son. How great is that? There isn’t word on when the hat will be out as the site still marks it as “coming soon.” We’ll have to relay when we hear it is available as we’d love to spot people around town in their Gorbals gear.
