Uncle Eddie’s Vegan Cookies

Uncle Eddie's Vegan Cookies

Uncle Eddie’s Vegan Cookies are a sweet maker from Glendale. The brand is sold in all of the Whole Foods in the area and basically any other natural or healthy food stores in Los Angeles and beyond. They make a wide variety of cookies and are recently are branching out into candies and brownies and other sweet treats. We are not vegan and we normally wouldn’t go out of our way to buy vegan cookies (Sorry, vegans.) but we noticed these guys were local and we wanted to give them a try.

The brand makes a shit ton of different cookies and I’ve definitely had them before and definitely loved them. They certainly cause a little wonder, making you contemplate if vegan cookies are better than not-vegan cookies. It’s the kind of curiosity that makes you toy with the idea of changing your culinary identity. This is because vegan cookies have all the basic elements of a non-vegan cookie (i.e. wheat–but vegan cookies are often confused for gluten free, which these are not). The only items neglected from these cookies are eggs and milk which can be substituted easily. They’re basically a normal cookie, which is good news for non-vegan people.

The cookies we purchased were the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. The cookies are about three fingers wide with little chocolate chunks poking out from it. As expected, there is quite a good deal of nuts in the cookie, a big secret weapon in making vegan food. They’re sweet and dense and the nuttiness manifests itself in little bits of peanuts popping up here and there. The peanut butter is not very overpowering at all and the chocolate is like any other good chocolate. It is a little crumbly but, hey, it’s a cookie.

This is an excellent cookie and brand that will keep all cookie eaters happy. (Well, except for gluten free people.) They “can pass” as normal cookies and are not without lots and lots of nuts as nearly all of their stylings have some sort of nut something. They’re very good and are all over town. Grab one and give them a try next time you see an Uncle Eddie’s and you can find out more about them here.
