At this point, everyone is all about embellishing their photos before sharing them. Whether it is tweaking the brightness or adding in digital stickers, photo sharing has been taken to the next level. Mr. Chiizu is a new app that takes the idea of placing stickers on photos but places it within an artistic context as they’ve commissioned fairly successful artists to make the stickers. It’s a super fun, artsy way to embellish your photos–and it got started in Los Angeles!
The app comes from LA based illustrator Jessica Lopez and graphic/interaction designers Tree-Axis. The app is very slick and really, really well considered which you can tell is from Tree-Axis’ years of experience in this field. The app works by buying new artist themes which are basically worlds that you can choose stickers from. These artists range from LA and Yokohama based Juka Araikwa‘s delicate stickers to Skwak‘s slightly insane–and brilliant–sticker packs. Mr. Chiizu makes the silliness of adding embellishments to your photos a little more sophisticated.
The app is a high end concept married with a very accessible medium. We’re surprised no one thought of this sooner! But, as their Twitter says, things like this only happen when “two artists and one illustrator get together.” More artists and illustrators should get together then!! You can download Mr. Chiizu for free at the app store and you should definitely check out all the available artists’ themes here.
