Beer is not my thing and I certainly have not tried any of the Arrogant Bastard/Stone Brewing beers either. I’ve seen them though and I do know that they are made not-too-far-from Los Angeles. Los Angeles designer Thanh Nguyen definitely has tried the beer and must be something of a fan. This is assumed because he repackaged the Arrogant Bastard brand in quite a simple and wonderful way. If only this was the real packaging!

The redesign was done in 2011 and implemented on a variety pack of the Arrogant beers. Nguyen simplified and simplified and simplified the look of the beer to the basics. The devil is forefront and all copy is light and contemporary (looking and sounding). Te nicest touch is a wrapped string around the neck of the bottles that have tags on them. This action almost makes it look like a barbed wire or whip around the neck of the bottle. Sneaky, eh? The choice of colors are delightfully subdued and play up the beer, be it the Oaked or Strong or Pale. He made the brand standout in its being so understated.

Considering how the repackage has been out for nearly two years and the brand has not changed, we are assuming that the beer brand didn’t get the memo to try the change. Super unfortunate because Nguyen did an ace job. Another brand needs to hire him to do their packaging! It’s wonderful. Find more of his work here and see Arrogamt Bastard/Stone Brewing here.
