Last night saw the collision of two great brands we love for one event that sounds weird but certainly was not: Kid Robot’s Choice Cuts Labbit release at Lindy & Grundy. The event saw vinyl toy fans coiled around the store, waiting to get in to grab their piece of the new Labbit and, more importantly, say hello to Frank Kozik, the man behind the Labbit.
Billed as the “coolest sausage party ever,” the Labbit release was, you know, actually the coolest sausage party we’ve ever been to. It was great to see the guys from Kid Robot doing rad shit with other equally as cool locals, Lindy & Grundy being a perfect duo to team up with. The teaming was effortless, too, Amelia Posada and Erika Nakamura of L&G lending their meat sanctuary as the place for Labbit fans to come congregate and worship.
Aside from the new ready-to-be-chopped Labbit and butcher’s apron outfitted, ready to sign to sign Labbits Kozik, Amelia and Erika made a fantastic sausage specifically for the event: the Smoking Labbit Sausage. The sausage was a delightful little meat party made from rabbit, chicken, and bacon along with fennel, garlic, onion, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. It was an absolute delight and incredibly interesting and impossible not to devour in less than a minute (which is what I did). The only sad thing is that the sausage was for a very limited time only, made and sold at last night’s event. Maybe it will make another cameo at the store in the future, which–if they do–you will have to check out.
Be sure to grab your Choice Cut Labbit at Kid Robot when you get the chance and, while you are at their Melrose store, skip over to Lindy & Grundy and grab yourself some meat treats. We also are keeping our fingers crossed for more, similar events from both parties (because this event was just so dang fun).
