June 9 Downtown is a little event called Let’s Play LA hosted by Everlane, the fabulous fashion brand. It’s an intimate event that requires a ticket and will include a performance by The Drums. There will also be drinks and snacks and the venue–the Marimon House–is fabulous.
To welcome Summer and introduce you to their latest collection, Comune has released a video lookbook of their Summer wears. As always, it all looks great. Catch it after the jump.
Céline is a very fancy clothing maker who are not at all from LA. However, it appears that they’ve very recently opened their new Rodeo Drive storefront and are quite excited about it. How does a big luxury brand celebrate a new store opening? Well, they hire a well known photographer to make a video dedicated to the city and to the new store, one that ironically has nothing to do with clothes or the new store. The video is by photographer Jeff Burton and it’s a blurry, hazy, drugged out view of Los Angeles by car. It’s a neat video but, again, it’s funny that it has nothing to do with the store.
What will we never get enough of in Southern California? Sunglasses. We love us some sunglasses. In such a sunny, warm climate, sunglasses are our refuge from the sometimes too bright brightness. We have l.a.Eyeworks, we have Freeway Sunglasses, we have Matsuda Sunglasses, and lots and lots more. It’s remarkable! The last maker–Matsuda–seems particularly special considering there is a new (“new”) sunglasses brand from Los Angeles that functions in a similar way: Masunaga, a Woodland Hills based optical maker founded in Fukui, Japan in 1905. The brand is recently relaunching itself and has a lot of sexy options for sun shading and more.
Check it: rad bag makers Altadena Works have reissued their Japanese Canvas bags. They’re pretty great looking and, like everything they make, we want it.
