A few new things happening at Market On Holly in Pasadena: first, they’re offering Summer Picnic Boxes that are now available and orders need to be placed a day in advance and they’re offering a Summer cooking series of classes starting June 20 with other classes on July 18 and August 15 (costs $75, which is a steal).
With Father’s Day coming up on June 16, lots of places are getting ready to welcome the pops. Two places have some special brunch happenings to note: Fig & Olive is hosting a “Provençal” brunch and–for those West–Cafe del Rey is having a seafoody seaside brunch. Yum, please.
This is neat: Dishcrawl–a foodie happening that lets you eat from many places at once–is coming to LA. Their Venice Dishcrawl is happening on June 26 and you’ll get to eat ten signature dishes from four restaurants. We want to do this!
If you were to guess what product would be made with John Wayne in mind, you would probably guess something along the lines of beef jerky. Well, you know what? There is in fact a John Wayne Beef Jerky!! How funny is that? It comes from Newport Beach based John Wayne Stock & Supply which is known for their apparel, books, and jerky and their support/connection to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. Who knew?! Well, we got our hands on some of John’s Organic Beef Jerky and wanted to share how it is. Put on your cowboy hat and do your best Wayne Walk: it’s jerky time!
It’s almost that time: the Los Angeles Street Food Fest is just twenty four days away! If you aren’t familiar, the LASFF is an event that gathers all sorts of food makers from the city and gives you the opportunity to try little tastes from each of them in one place. It’s basically like a music festival but instead of bands you have chefs and instead of music you have food and drinks. What isn’t to like about this concept?! We’re super excited about this (Especially considering we get to try so many new restaurants in one place!) and, to give an idea of what to expect this year, LASFF held a little preview of what to expect.
June 25 will have a four course dinner and six wine glass dinner at Sotto. They’re celebrating local winer Donkey & Goat and–duh–there will even be a dish featuring goat.
Experimental dancers at Show Box LA are hoping to raise money to help keep their work going. We had no idea that they were in such a bummer situation so, please, if you are a fan of Los Angeles dance, give them a little love.

June 22 at LACMA is their latest Muse event. They’ll be saying goodbye to the Stanley Kubrick exhibit since it closes on June 30. You’ll have late night exhibition access, food and drink options, and music by DJ Marion Hodges of KCRW.
Want to take your pedestrianism to the next level? Los Angeles Walks is having WalkLAvia June 23 starting at Wilshire and Grand and will be a six mile stroll down Wilshire. Start with them or meet them–regardless, they’ll be walk, walk, walking!
