Jonathan Lethem and Sean Manning will be discussing book covers at The Last Bookstore on March 2. Lethem is a fairly big author and Manning runs a blog on book art/covers titled Talking Covers. Get on this, literary folk.
My love of print began in elementary school with the Weekly Reader. Here was a magazine that tailored to my adolescent interests (pandas, weaving, outer space) and you could also buy books from it. Last night I checked out the opening of NYC bookstore Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair at MOCA and could barely contain myself. I mean, a museum that I love and you can buy books from it?
New from the rad guys at Never Press: Baggleridge by Robert Hardgrave. These are “3-4 layer Risograph Prints on ivory paper.” There were 140 made: get it while you can.
Printed Matter is happening next weekend but that time will also mark the kick off of LA Zine Week. There will be lots of fun happenings to celebrate it and will all be rolling toward the February 17 LA Zine Fest.
