Are you currently in school for film and want to try out some of your talents? Are you just super good at film stuff and want to get in on a cool project? Do you just really like LAIY and want to help out in some capacity? Well, we have an opportunity for you! We’re currently looking for an intern with film skills who would be helping us try to accomplish our New Years resolution of making short films on the site. We have a lot of content already bagged–we just need some help turning it from raw footage to sleek two minute videos.

Moreover, next week is a big week in Los Angeles that we want to ignore but cannot: it is Oscar Week! What’s that mean? Congested streets, the near end of movie propaganda in our faces, and the return of the Los Angeles, I’m Yours Oscar Week Diary. Yes, our friends at Vanity Fair have invited us to a few of their events in addition to a few other venues who invited us to “check out what they are doing” to celebrate 2012 movies, etc. While we are concerned that the Diary could be very similar to last year’s, we want to make things interesting. How? Well, we’ve devised a sort of bingo list or scavenger hunt of things to do or have happen or to notice at parties that we want to check off. What are they? Well…
If you have been to The Standard Hollywood since December, you may have noticed that it has totally been transformed into a California cosmic winter wonder zone courtesy of National Forest‘s Justin Krietemeyer and Steven Harrington. The show is their Auroraborealis and is totally great. To support the close of the show, we are teaming up with both The Standard and National Forest to throw a kick ass party on February 9. As you can see above from the flyer, you will not want to miss this.
Guess what, guys? This weekend is a three day weekend! Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day! We’re sure not everyone will have a holiday but we’ll be taking off and resuming a regular Monday schedule (Featured Interview, et al) on Tuesday and then resuming the week as normal on the following day. Because you who have work may be bummed about no posts on Monday, don’t fret: we’re spending the weekend working. How? “Unseen” a new exhibition of works by UK street artist HUSH opens tonight at Corey Helford Gallery.
We can all agree that that last Muse album’s cover art was pretty nice and certainly wonderfully colorful. Apparently it has an LA base to it: the work used comes courtesy of LA’s Laboratory of Neuro Imaging. This is old news, sure, but we thought this was super great.
Poketo has teamed up with artist Lisa Congdon to create a series of tea towels off of her designs. They’re very pretty and would look fabulous in anyone’s kitchen.
Fashion website JC Report has a little article about boutiques they like in Los Angeles. Their picks include Wild Style by Joy Rich and Just One Eye. Nice!
Taste Of The Nation is having an event in Culver City on June 9. Lot sof local favorites will be involved–from A-Frame to Campanile to Mohawk Bend–and it is all for a good cause. Yum!
