Introduction: There are lots of bodegas in Echo Park. Jumbo Bargain is the one that has a little elephant logo and quarter rides outside of it. The place doesn’t have a specific specialty and is kind of always transitioning as they always seem to have boxes everywhere. One thing is for sure about this place: they sell lots and lots of stuff and the shopkeeper is kind of mean.

Introduction: Mas Precio Loco 99 is a bit of a small department store. It has clothes, it has entertainment, it has food, it has homewares, it has office supplies: it has just about everything. The place is located in Highland Park, on the “strip” of sorts, wedged in between two cool spots. The feeling in the store is bit transformational, like you have stepped into another world, making you feel a little alien but welcome nevertheless.

Introduction: Giant Dollar is a mixture of many discount store concepts. It’s part Dollar Store, part thrift store, part international marketplace: it covers the gamut of just about everything. Quite giant actually, the store could be seen as a small Big Lots, carrying the torch of the now deceased North Vine Big Lots, now soon-to-be Academy outdoor screening site.
