A Peek In The Remodeled Monsieur Marcel

A Peek In The Remodeled Monsieur Marcel

Monsieur Marcel is one of our favorite nice food stores in Los Angeles. They have everything you need in gourmet food that extend well beyond just nice cheese or nice meat or nice bread or nice wine. Also, for whatever reason, it’s such a comfortable place, everyone super nice and helpful and the fact that most people there speak French being strangely comforting (mainly because I love Paris). We stopped in this past weekend at their Grove Farmers Market location to pick up some things and–SURPRISE–they remodeled!

Our Favorite Budget Date Spots In Los Angeles

Our Favorite Budget Date Spots In Los Angeles

Last week we were asked a question we don’t think we did a good job of answering: what are a few good, budget date night spots? We were asked on Twitter by Nick Davidovac, who was specifically looking for spots in West Hollywood. We Tweeted a few, realized they were not very good answers, and then turned it to everyone else on Twitter. Lots of people responded and Nick got lots of good answers. Thinking about it for a week or so, we wanted to share some more date spots that could be perfect for your next date night (on a budget).

Darren The Chef’s Champagne Marshmallows

Darren The Chef's Champagne Marshmallows

The final treasure we found at Atwater Village Farm is a sweet treat we usually pass up, something that has become somewhat trendy: marshmallows. Everywhere from Heath Ceramics to Gelson’s are carrying gourmet versions of these and we’ve never actually purchased them because, well, they’re marshmallows! Who cares about marshmallows aside from people camping who want to make s’mores??? Well, we saw some at AVF and had to get them. Why? They are champagne flavored.

In order to help you make an educated vote this summer, we’re counting down to Made In L.A. by showcasing each artist participating in the biennial.

Laura Riboli is a video artist whose works are minimalistic geometric meditations, each analyzing shape and movement by transforming and moving them in space.

The Digest: Honey’s Kettle

The Digest: Honey's Kettle

Sunday we had every intention of eating at A-Frame. We made the commitment to travel all the way across the city and even studied the menu, jazzed about a place with the description “leave pretentious at the door” when you arrive at their website. What we did not catch was that their lunch on the weekends concludes at 3PM. We weekend sleep-inners did not realize this, rolling up at 2:50PM just to make a U-turn out of the place. Where should we grab a bite now? We made our way to downtown Culver City and somewhat aimlessly listed places we’d already been to in the are. A quick Yelping brought us some new options, one that punched me in the face: Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken.

Muse's Album Art From LA

We can all agree that that last Muse album’s cover art was pretty nice and certainly wonderfully colorful. Apparently it has an LA base to it: the work used comes courtesy of LA’s Laboratory of Neuro Imaging. This is old news, sure, but we thought this was super great.
